About The Torus Root
My name is Jeremy Thomas and I officially opened The Torus Root Center For Astrology and Herbalism
in the Fall of 2022 as a space for students and teachers of Astrology and Herbalism to come together and share their knowledge and experience with others on a similar path in life.
My personal path with healing began with multiple tick bites, and continued through everything that I have experienced and learned and continue to learn on my journey back toward health and holistic well-being.
I began studying astrology in the mid 1990's, and I began teaching and practicing astrology in 2015, both in person and on-line, under the name Aquarian Waters Astrology.
In 2019, I took a break from Aquarian Waters Astrology in order to begin my formal herbal studies, completing the on-line Astro-Herbalism program offered by Sajah Popham at the School of Evolutionary Herbalism.
Since early 2020, I have been apprenticing with Chuck Riffenburg, owner of the Rogue Herbalist Academy and Apothecary in Morrisville, VT.
Philosophy
My philosophy is that everyone would greatly benefit from learning about the energetics of astrology and herbalism, and that we would truly be best served as our own astrologers and our own herbalists. This philosophy is what compels me to be teaching these subjects, and it also very much informs the way I structure consultations, which always begin with establishing a linguistic foundation of energetic principles as they relate to the studies of astrology and herbalism.
Essentially, every consultation begins with a brief “Energetics of Astrology 101” class. Once we have discussed the philosophy of energetics as a whole, we will then begin to discuss the astrologically unique energetic qualities that are influencing you to make you who you are. From my experience, this educational approach to consultations is far more empowering to the client than simply “reading” them their chart, which is the approach of many, if not most astrologers.
Over the years of my own studies and practice, I have been very much focused on being able to explain seemingly complicated principles of energetics in a brief amount of time, and in a grounded, practical, and comprehendible way.
I do not personally look at astrology through any sort of doom and gloom lens. I see every aspect of our experience as an opportunity for growth, and I think that the mentality of being a victim of anything is very unhealthy, whether we view ourselves as victims in the physical world, or we see ourselves as victims of the stars. I will always be offering solutions for working with difficult energetic patterns, and it is my philosophy that our greatest challenges are to develop into our greatest strengths once we create the alchemical transformation that comes from learning how to consciously work with our most challenging energies in a productive manner.
Vision
As far as a grand vision, my vision for this humble school is simply growing into a permanent fixture for anyone who wishes to learn about astrology and herbalism. I would love for there to be more and more teachers and students as a part of the Torus Root, and I would love to be able to grow to the point of being able to acquire land for a small herb farm and a small campus with some type of basic student housing for those who wish to come study for greater lengths of time.
I would love to see guest teachers come from all over to teach programs, and I would love to see week-long, month-long, and even year-long programs of immersive study for students in a setting where we can observe the patterns of the stars and planets at night, and then by day, we can study the influences that those patterns are having on us as humans. All the while, we can be learning about how those celestial influences are related to the herbs we are surrounded by, and and how we can be consciously using those herbs to help restore and maintain holistic health and well-being.
